Carpentry & Joinery - Skills for Work (Level 2)

This course is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in Carpentry & Joinery.

Course Overview
You will attend college for 2-3 days and 1-2 days will be spent on site.

Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma Bench Joinery (Dip 6706-26) (600/8048/6)

Level 2 City & Guilds Diploma Site Carpentry (Dip 6706-23) (600/8047/4)

You can specialise in either Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery. Site joinery is work primarily based on construction sites and bench joinery will mean that you work primarily in the workshop throughout your career.

You will learn to cut, measure and join wood using our state of the art machinery in our workshop facilities.

Mandatory Modules may include:

  • Safe working practices
  • Information, quantities and communicating
  • Building Methods and Construction Technology

Bench Joinery subjects may include:

  • Set up and operate a circular saw
  • Setting out details for routine joinery Products
  • Mark out routine joinery products
  • Manufacture routine joinery products
  • Construct an under stairs cupboard

Site Joinery subjects may include:

  • First fixing
  • Second fixing
  • Erect structural carcassing
  • Maintenance
  • Set up and operate a circular saw
  • Construct a timber frame entrance

You'll Learn:

You'll Progress:
Onto the Level 3 Apprenticeship in Wood Occupations if you secure an employer.
You'll Need:
5 GCSEs including at least Grade F in English and Maths. However to help you succeed on the course it is preferable if you have a minimum of Grade D in Maths and English.
