Course Overview

Bricklayers build and repair walls, chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework. They may also refurbish brickwork and masonry on restoration projects

This Level 2 apprenticeship is a 2 year programme and requires you to secure an employer prior to enrolment. Students will spend 3-4 days with the employer and 1 day in college.

C&G Level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying (6705-23)

 

Mandatory Modules may contain:

  • Safe Working practices
  • Solid and Cavity Walling
  • Information, quantities and communicating
  • Building methods and construction technology
  • Solid walling isolated and attached piers
  • Interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures
  • Cavity walling forming masonry structures

 

You will also work towards a Personal Development qualification and will be involved in a range of activities, designed to improve employability.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSE's including at least grade F in English and Maths, however to help you succeed on the course it is preferable if you have a minimum of grade D in Maths and English.
  • You must have secured employment (minimum of 21 hours, inclusive of college hours) within the industry.
  • You need to be 16 by the end of June but no older than 24.
  • You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT if you do not have a GCSE grade C or Level 2 Essential Skills in English, Maths and ICT.
Where will it take me?
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship or alternatively go to work directly into industry. Other Further & Higher Education progression routes may also be available.
How will it make me more employable?

This course can give you formal qualifications which will improve your job opportunities and employability skills.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
Assessment will be through a series of written, online and practical tests. These will happen throughout the year.
