Autumn and Winter Gardening

This course provides an introduction to practical gardening techniques in a relaxed and informal environment.

Course Overview

This course provides an introduction to practical gardening techniques in a relaxed and informal environment. Our campus garden is used as an outdoor classroom, and over the course of the term you will be introduced to many seasonal aspect of gardening.
Modules may include:

  • Plant knowledge

  • Container gardening

  • Planting plans and techniques

  • General garden maintenance

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. This course is suitable if you have an interest, but not necessarily the experience, in gardening.

Where will it take me?

You may progress to any of our NOCN Level 2 Awards or Certificates in Gardening, Garden Design or Growing Organic Fruit and Vegetables or to the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture, or to the HNC Horticulture.

Assessment is through a mix of written and practical work.
