Course Overview
 
The course is designed to give candidates the skills required to be able to plan and deliver safe, effective and stimulating physical activity sessions to children under 5.  The qualification also address the common core of skills and knowledge developed by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) and gives learners the skills to be able to promote healthy living to families and children.
 
Successful completion of the qualification will enable learners to plan and deliver activities which contribute to the six areas which may be covered by the Early Learning Goals and Educational Programmes:
 
• Personal, social and emotional development
• Communication, language and literacy
• Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy
• Physical development
• Creative development
Entry Requirements
 
There are no prerequisite qualifications.  It is suggested that learners should have good communication skills.  Learners are required to read and write and give demonstrations at the practical assessment.
Where will it take me?
 
The target learners for this qualification are adults aged 16 or over, wishing to pursue a career either, in the health and fitness sector, community setting or in schools as teachers of children’s physical activity.
How will it make me more employable?
 
Completion of this course will result in you achieving a professional qualification recognisable to employers. The course will enhance your existing skills and knowledge whilst promoting a new skill set.
 
Candidates will develop a range of competencies in a specialist subject that will enhance confidence and ability.

The knowledge gained will be transferable across a number of areas and can also be used to meet community needs.

How will I be assessed and given feedback?
 
 Assessment is through course work/portfolio of evidence and a practical demonstration.
